How does it work?

How do Sound Waves work?

In this tab I will talk to you about what the vocab you learned about means. You will also learn lots about how Sound Waves work together.

How the Sound Wave works together...

1. The vibration triggers the chain reaction, the start of the sound wave.
2. The your ear picks up the vibrations and send them on a long process to the brain.
3. Our brain senses the vibration and can tell you exactly what the sound is to determine what direction its coming from and what it is.

So basically the sound is all depending on volume (how loud or soft the sound is) and pitch (the highness or loudness of a sound.) It also depeneds on pitch and frequency together. Pitch and frequency are linked together. Amplitude (the size of the wave from crest to trough) effects volume because of its size. The bigger the amplitude, the louder the volume.

Quick 3 facts about Sound Waves
  • Dogs can hear certain noises we can't because dogs can hear higher frequencys then people
  • Sound moves faster through water then through air
  • The speed of Sound Waves are about 767 miles per hour
